• Smith is a 30 plus year resident of Comal County and for 26 years has made his home in Precinct 1. 

  • Smith is a 16 year veteran of the Comal County Sheriff's Office with over 21 years of public service, having also served as a Deputy for the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office and a residential real estate appraiser for the Comal Appraisal District. 

  • During his service at the Sheriff's Office, he has served as a Patrol Deputy, Patrol Supervisor, Mental Health Peace Officer, Member and supervisor of the Hostage Negotiations Team, supervisor of the Community Resource Team, and supervisor for security at the Comal County Courthouse Complex.

  • Smith is currently a Financial Crimes Investigator for the Comal County Sheriff's Office. As an Investigator, he has earned the prestigious Certified Fraud Examiner and Certified Economic Crimes Forensic Examiner titles. He has also achieved his Master Peace Officer Proficiency. 

  • Smith's varied work experience has provided him with a unique perspective of operations at both the Sheriff's Office and Comal County as a whole. 

  • Smith has demonstrated a life of community Service as a past president of Canyon Lake Volunteer Fire Department, Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce, and Canyon Lake Evening Lions Club. 

  • Smith Currently serves on the board of directors for the Dam Community Alliance.
